I know I’m reading something special—something destined to be much-underlined and given a permanent home on the bookshelf—when a book makes me want to put it down and start writing.

Reading good writing makes me want to write, myself. Maybe that’s true for you too? And the closer I look at what a writer is doing right, the more easily I learn from their choices and integrate whatever magic they’re harnessing into my own work.
